Elia Suleiman's film “The Time That Remains” is about the family from 1948 until recent times. The movie is about the State of Israel and the Palestinian people. The film is brilliantly shot and the story is endearing and touching. The film is sort of comedic with the undertones of sadness and despair. The director raises a question that he can not answer himself: “Will Palestinians ever be free?”. The main actor and also the director Elia Suleiman is superb in this movie, you will catch yourself watching his every move and every eye blink, he is that good. Samar Qudha Tanus, who played the mother is also excellent. I loved the scene where they are both watching TV and Elia is trying to touch his mother’s hand and she refuses it. This is a very charming and graceful film. Elia Suleiman obviously has a killer technique and in the same time he does not loose the tender moments that make this movie so amazing. I highly recommend this film to everybody. Go see it!
